February - The Month Of Love

Love, "God is Love!" the Bible declares. God's love sent His Son Jesus to come to the earth and die for you and me, we were sinners, maybe some of us are still sinners. Meaning, that once I accept the love gift of Jesus, then I am no longer a "sinner" but a "child" of God. Yes, I sin, but I don't practice sinning. I now practice being a "child" of God.

Love - the Bible says is, patient, kind, long suffering, never rude, doesn't keep score of how many times its been hurt, suffers long, never fails. If God is love, then these words describe Who He is.

When I started my journey with Jesus, I discovered this wonderful book called, "Hinds Feet to High Places" by Hannah Hubbard. It is a allegory of a young girl called Much Afraid. How much I was like Much Afraid when I began to read this story. I would encourage everyone to get a copy and read it. If you do so purchase the one with the devotional, its life changing, I promise you.

Well, its been many years and this February I wanted to focus on "Who Loves You!" in our children's ministry (I am the children's ministry coordinator for our church). I pulled out the children's version of this book from my library and began to adapt lessons based on this story. Let me tell you it brought back all the love and joy I found in this book. I so want my little ones to experience the Love of Jesus like never before this year.

Learning about Much Afraid again, has shown me just how much I've grown. How fear is not a constant enemy in my life that I am battling continuously. How now I can recognize when fear is trying to slip in and take me captive in an area, and i quickly send it fleeing because I know who I am in Christ, and I have His Word in my heart and ready in my mouth.

The journey has been steep, rough terrain, many bruises, scratches, some major wounds, but I continue to climb and rejoice that My Father Loves Me that is Who He is, and Who I am.

Snuggle down deep into your Father's embrace, open His Book and let His voice declare to you His love for you, how much He cares and loves you. Let Him show you Who He is, and Who you are.

Happy climbing,
Susie
